Campari In Depth
No one is quite sure how many ingredients go into making Campari—some guess it’s 20, 60, or even as many as 80.
Invented in 1860, with its first production plant in 1904, the original price for Campari was 3 Lira—which today is roughly 1/5 of one cent USD.
The Negroni is said to have been created around 1920. A count named Camillo Negroni would regularly come to Caffe Casoni in Florence and order the Americano cocktail, but with an added shot of gin. The bartender named the drink after the count.
The first pre-mixed alcoholic drink sold internationally was the Campari Soda.
