What You Need To Know About Jim Beam

Run by seven generations of the same family, Jim Beam knows a thing or two about making whiskey.
  • Produced By Beam Suntory
  • Produced In: United States
  • Type: Bourbon, Whiskey
  • Sales: 7.4 million 9-liter cases
Jacob Beam sold the first barrel of his “Old Tub” whiskey in 1795.
Three generations later, after Prohibition ended, Colonel James B. Beam rebuilt the family distillery and re-branded the whiskey as Jim Beam.
In 2003, a Jim Beam aging warehouse burned down, and around 19,000 barrels of bourbon were destroyed. As the barrels burst and the bourbon spilled out, it caught the neighboring creek on fire, killing thousands of fish.
In 2014, Beam took on Mila Kunis as its spokesperson. She appeared in a series of ads where she branded whiskey barrels and hangs out with sleeping bears.
