The Story Behind The Jungle Bird

This classic tiki cocktail reportedly first spread its wings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, circa 1978. Today, bartenders at KL's RuMa Hotel and Residences serve a bright and balanced version in a glamorous decorative bird cage.

For at-home tiki enthusiasts with a more modest presentation budget, however, a rocks glass with a festive pineapple wedge garnish will certainly do the trick. As a cocktail this delicious, it may come as no surprise that the Jungle Bird ranks among the 50 most popular cocktails in the world. To see the other 49, dive into the full list.
