San Stefano "Drugo" Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016
Review
In true Greve style San Stefano goes big and concentrated for their Riserva. With Sangiovese being blended with Cab and Merlot, this wine shows the power of the galestro soils that made Chinati famous. Dark ruby red in color, this wine is a mouthful, in a good way. The still-youthful tannin winds through the wine with some good acidity on the assist, amplifying the sour cherry and vanilla aromas which are then quieted by the underlying earthtones. This wine is soft, balanced and more on the modern side of things, but has serious depth at the same time thanks to those tannins letting you know it’s ok to wade into the deep end. Drugo, is old Tuscan dialect for Strongman; this wine live up to its name.
