Quercia al Poggio Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 Review

From the western reaches of Classico comes this organic, old school Chianti blend harkening back to the days of old before French varieties were common in the blends of this region. It’s got it all: Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera and Colorino, making for a deep, soulful Chianti with a garnet hue and mature aromas of sour cherry liqueur, baking spices focused on nutmeg and an under layer of soil. This wine will definitely drink well until at least 2025 but is drinking just fine right now, as the tannin is young but the acidity is plentiful, shouldering the weight of the wine just right.
