Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 Review
Even though this wine has some Merlot in it, it feels like an old school Chianti, with cherry bark (when the soil and cherry aromas fold into each other) and only a hint of the signature violet note, making room for richer aromas of baking spices like nutmeg and anise with a nice cured leather and tobacco note. The tannin is well integrated and mostly perceived around the rustic edges, holding the wine up with good acidity, rather than being in your face.
