The Story Behind The Negroni Bramble
In this variation on the classic Negroni, reconfigured as a bramble-style cocktail, I left out the gin and added in a second vermouth. This keeps the bold flavors in check once the ice is added.
The bramble is a type of cocktail served over crushed ice, so the rate of dilution for these drinks is considerably faster than those served neat or with ice cubes. I wanted to create a bramble that starts off with bold flavor, so that after sipping on it for a few minutes you get accustomed to the flavors and it mellows out just a bit. This method removes the necessity for stirring first, so the cocktail can be made directly in the glass.
