The Story Behind The Armagnac Daiquiri

The Hemingway Daiquiri is a classic that was created in Cuba and said to have been made specifically for Ernest Hemingway. It is the new go-to Daiquiri variation for many American bartenders.

I wanted to make a version with Armagnac to showcase a lesser-heralded spirit most people aren’t familiar with. Armagnac’s earthy notes work wonderfully with the grapefruit and Maraschino liqueur, and it lends a little rich caramel flavor as well.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Armagnac
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce grapefruit juice
  • ½ ounce Maraschino liqueur

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake hard to chill and combine.
  3. Strain into coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with an edible flower.
  5. Enjoy!
