Tarpon Cellars Cambaro Red 2021 Review

Tarpon Cellars is a new idea that the future wine industry can take a lesson in wide-range sustainability. Owners Jeremy Carter and Parish Owens are going beyond winemaking; according to their site, “It is our firmly held viewpoint that wine is meant to connect people: to a vineyard block, to a growing season, to a winemaker, and most importantly to each other.” And not only do they channel proceeds from wine sales to philanthropic organizations — they also make great wine. This bottle is a great example. It’s a juicy carbonic macerated blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera that is like sunshine in a bottle. It has slight herby notes bursting through the fruit giving casual balance and begging to be chilled down for a good 30 minutes before opening. This is an exciting American wine showing we can make delicious, quaffable stuff.
