L'Ecole No. 41 Merlot 2019 Review

The Clubbs were in on the ground floor. They established their winery in an old French schoolhouse in the second AVA in Washington State, Walla Walla Valley, after it was awarded to the state in 1984. Since then, it has been a family business with decades of working the land and making the right connections. This wine is a great example of the years of work, making for a very "Washington" Merlot. Tight berry fruit and some earthy vibes mix with a dollop of heat from the alcohol. The palate is soft and grippy with a welcome peppery steak tartare savoriness.
