Kilchoman Sanaig
Review
One of the more slept-on distilleries on the island of Islay, Kilchoman quietly continues to put out some of the best releases in the region. Named after an inlet on the island, Sanaig is produced from a vatting of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, specifically Oloroso. The dried fruit/baking spice barrel notes meld beautifully with the smoke, making for a peated whiskey that is both accessible to newbies to the category, yet pleasing in complexity to longtime fans.
