Hvenus Rye Whisky Review

Rye whiskey need not be strictly American and this Swedish distillate shows where other countries can take the spirit. An exacting mash bill of 78.6 percent rye, 11.9 percent wheat, 4.8 percent corn and 4.8 percent barley is aged in American oak for three to six years. It’s creamy and nutty on the palate, but there is an underlying rye graininess that is not quite as punishing and spicy as its U.S. counterparts. A fun international entrant to shake up the category.
