Hirsch The Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Review
While Cognac barrels are not as commonly used for finishing bourbon as sherry or port barrels, this cask-strength release from Bardstown, K.Y. manages to make great use of them. It's a bourbon for those who appreciate the effects of maturation, with the nose featuring notes of raisins and chocolate cherries. The high 63.5 percent ABV content only serves to enhance the sweetness of the palate.
