Fatttorie Melini "Terrarossa" Chianti Classico DOCG 2015 Review

Merlot is such a great blending grape, and here we can see how nicely it plays with Sangiovese. Ripe raspberry fruit, and quiet vanilla in the background, with a note of forest floor, shows the Merlot mellowing those cherry notes. The Merlot also adds to the acidity, making the wine almost pillowy on the palate. The classic tang of Sangiovese is taken down a half notch, exposing chewy tannins and a broad mouthfeel. These grapes definitely get along together and are in good hands at Fattorie Melini. And for under $20 #fuhgetaboutit
