Carpineto Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 Review
Wines from the Greve commune tend to be a bit more concentrated, becoming almost chewy, which is what we almost get here. This is a great wine for under $20 with soft, sour cherry fruit and only a whisper of the large oak it was aged in along with some of that signature earthiness. If the tannin structure was just a little more ironed out this would be a delightfully elegant, concentrated wine but the phenolics are a bit green taking away from the balanced middle palate. This is a great wine for a dinner party, as some people may enjoy the tannic grip while others will enjoy the chewy middle. And this wine is in heavy distribution, so it’s easy to find.
