The largest brewer in the country, Anheuser-Busch, is teaming up with the White House to reach its 70 percent vaccination rate goal by July 4. The brand is offering a free round of beer, seltzer, non-alcoholic beverage, or other Anheuser Busch products if the milestone is reached.

“As we look ahead to brighter days with renewed optimism, we are proud to work alongside the White House to make a meaningful impact for our country, our communities, and our consumers,” CEO Mike Doukeris said in a Wednesday press release. The announcement comes on the heels of the brand’s efforts to aid in the nation’s recovery from the Covid pandemic.

Anheuser-Busch has previously taken a proactive approach by producing and donating hand sanitizer. Now the brand is promoting a sense of normalcy by urging people to socialize safely with its “Let’s Grab A Beer” initiative.

Early this year, Budweiser collaborated with the Ad Council to produce a short film encouraging fans of the brew to get vaccinated, and Bud Light launched a “Summer Stimmy” program with prizes totaling $10 million.

Using beer as vaccination bait is a tried and true approach. The state of New Jersey started offering free beer to residents with its “Shot and a Beer” program in May.  Sam Adams spearheaded a similar program in April, sending $7 to vaccinated beer fans to cover the cost of a cold brew.

To participate in the current promotion, adults need to upload a photo of themselves enjoying their favorite Anheuser-Busch beverage in their choice of setting: bar, restaurant, backyard — you name it. Once the partial vaccination rate hits 70 percent, entrants will receive a $5 virtual debit card that can be used to buy one Anheuser-Busch product.

With everything getting back into full swing this summer, free beer is a fantastic excuse to get together with friends and family.
