It’s National Bourbon Month, and we thought there was no better way to celebrate than with this bourbon ice cream float. Think of the float as a grown-up version of the root beer floats you loved as a kid. The drink is still as creamy and decadent as ever, but now it includes a nice dose of smooth bourbon.
These floats are the perfect treat when you’re entertaining because they’re extremely simple to make and you kill two birds with one stone at the end of the meal: the dessert and the digestif. One thing to note: since the drink is so simple, the most important thing is to use good quality ingredients. While you don’t need a fancy old bourbon, you do want one that is delicious and smooth. Maker’s Mark would be a great choice here as it has some sweetness that will pair well with the ice cream and soda. You can also choose any soda you like, but we think the drink is best with root beer, plus it’s a nice nod to the classic. Finally, grab a good quality vanilla ice cream and you are all set.
