Villa Russiz Collio DOC Sauvignon Blanc 2017 Review
One of the most celebrated winemakers in Friuli, Villa Russiz, brings the best out of any grape they grow (their Merlot will smash your soul) and this Sauvignon Blanc is no exception. One of the best I have ever had, and under $30, this wine is filled with citrus, peach rind and sage, with a grippy, crisp palate. But what makes this wine incredible is the mineral on the finish. It’s like smelling a wet stone just picked from a babbling brook. If you think Sancerre is good be careful, because this might, nay, will convert you to Collio.
