Thistle & Weed 'Khakibos' White 2022 Review

Viticulturist Etienne Terblanche and winemaker Stephanie Wiid are native to South Africa and cut their teeth in their country’s vineyards. They came together in a working partnership in 2015 with a like-minded approach to winemaking, allowing the wines to express the distinct vineyards of South Africa. Their white wines are always whole-bunch-pressed and raised in used barrels. That kind of subtly is needed for a blend like this — and wow it works. There are notes of aloe and cream on the nose with some honey and jasmine and floral aromatics to keep the complexity going. There's great balance on the palate with a calm yet supportive acidity.
