Robert Mondavi Winery The Estates Sauvignon Blanc Stags Leap District 2023 Review
The Mondavi family has a presence in Northern California wine, like the Pontac family of Château Haut-Brion had a presence in Bordeaux when the region was just realizing what it had. This wine is proof that winemaking at this legendary property remains focused. This comes from their Estate collection, made with grapes sourced from across several of Mondavi’s sites, including those planted to a clone sourced from the To Kalon Vineyard at its Oakville estate, which itself was planted in 1945. The result is a beautiful, rich, and elegant wine. The nose is a bit neutral, but this wine is all texture; the palate is rich and grippy, with wonderful fruit concentration and a refreshing finish.
