Ritual Casablanca Valley Chardonnay 2017 Review
Casablanca in Chile is known for its white wine and winemaker Sofia Araya really knows how to harness this ideal mesoclimate. Chardonnay is very malleable, and at Ritual they are going angular instead toothsome. This wine is mineral-driven first and then the aromas fall into line; it’s usually the other way around, in the form of crisp cut green apple and pineapple with a nice welcoming bite of quince and a touch of vanilla in the background. It is almost $20 which is high for Chilean wine but this Chardonnay was made sustainably with organic practices and all that awesome is baked into the price. It’s worth a go.
