Domaine de Fonsainte 'Reserve La Demoiselle' 2015 Review
Domaine de Fonsainte is one of the most noteworthy wineries in Corbières, a wine appellation in the Occitanie region of the south of France. The Laboucarié family has produced wine on the estate since the 1600's, and the 'Reserve La Demoiselle' bottling includes Carignan grapes from 100+ year old vines. This is an intense wine with a ruddy purple color and aromas of blackberries, rosemary, and a hint of toasted marshmallows. Flavors include ripe berries and a hint of dry cocoa powder. The texture is very fresh and lively - a welcomed surprise in a big wine. This wine hits notes that will please both wine geeks and beginners. If you like the dry boldness of a Cabernet, the lush fruit of a Malbec, or the meatiness of a Syrah, this is a wine to try. At $17, it's a fantastic value.
