The mash bill for this whiskey contains 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley. The sweet caramel and banana aromas, therefore, come as something of a pleasant surprise. The expected spice instead arrives on the palate, where it riffs nicely off sweet honey, coconut, and vanilla notes. Sip neat and add a few drops of water to coax out some extra fruity notes.
