Marine Layer Dutton-Jentoft Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 Review
This wine comes from the Green Valley AVA tucked into the western end of the Russian River Valley AVA in Sonoma County, California. Here, at the Dutton-Jentoft Vineyard, they wanted to show the diversity of colonial selections. Where they blended the Swan and Calera clones from the Dutton-Upp Road Vineyard. Here, with shallow sandstone and foggy mornings, they worked with only the swan clone. And it is fascinating to try both bottles and experience the difference. Here we get classic Sonoma deep vibes but with balance and focus. The nose is spicy and tart with cherry aromas beneath a good dose of rhubarb. The mouthfeel is deliciously viscous with nary a tannin in sight and good acidity supporting fleshy fruit.
