Gary Farrell Russian River Selection Pinot Noir 2016 Review

This is a beautiful example of restraint and skill in working with this crazy, finicky grape. Bright citrusy-sweet rhubarb opens the nose as a framework for soft cherry and vanilla and the slightest hint of soil. On the palate the soil that was hinted on the nose becomes sweet beetroot with some unctuous mushroom vibes around the edges. The wine is comfy and chew with excellent balance of acidity and tannin. Spend the $40, it’s worth it.
