Funckenhausen Malbec Blend 2020 Review

These days, we see a lot of Argentine wine on our shelves, but historically, the majority of wine produced never left the country. For a time, more wine was being consumed within its borders than on the export market; and when the people on the east side of the Andes enjoyed wine, it was communal. The Funcke family arrived in Mendoza in the 19th century. Today, descendant winemaker Kurt Heinlein and his grandson, with Funckenhausen Vineyards in San Rafael, bring this tradition to our market with liter bottles. This Malbec has a big ol’ juicy palate full of blackberry fruit, great natural acidity, and a slight alcohol bite that adds to the body. It has a screw cap and is ready to share.
