Florèz Wines Romulus Syrah 2021 Review
Winemaker James Jelks makes this Romulus Syrah bottling with grapes from his Alaya Vineyard in California's Santa Cruz Mountains. This dry-farmed site rests on a gentle slope among the redwoods, about four miles from the ocean. The wine is made with whole cluster fermentation to amplify the savory, spicy aromas — and this definitely comes through. It’s savory, peppery, and meaty with some spiced dark fruit on the nose. The palate is ripe and grippy with good lean fruit that has just enough depth to match the acidity.
