Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite Legende Medoc 2016 Review

This wine is a great stepping stone to the wines of Bordeaux. The Legende series by the Rothschilds started as requests from friends and family for everyday bottles. Here we have a general Medoc blend (Bas Medoc) that presents a good representation of the power and grace of these wines. The wine opens with dark berry fruit (cherries and blackberries) and a hint of cinnamon. As the wine continues to open a subtle note of vanilla wafts up but does not overwhelm. The palate is a combination of a silky mouthfeel with gripping tannins that will soften over time. This wine can age for a while making it a steal for the price.
