Review
The Bandlins hailed from Switzerland. When they got to California in the late 19th century, their Alpine heritage naturally led them to the top of Mount Veeder in Napa County. A place many had not ventured due to the challenges of mountain life. They grew orchard fruit and grain selling to the valley. This is Napa, so eventually they planted vines, some that are still there. Today the winery still knows how to work the mountain, because this wine is wonderful. The nose is very present with earthy tones and even that welcoming aroma of roasted herbs with some brambly blackberries. The palate is a joy with excellent tannin structure that works to support the almost perfect mountain fruit with a slight concentration and just epic acidity keeping this giant wine in harmony.
