Backsberg Merlot 2019 Review

Backsberg, now in its fourth generation, was the first winery in South Africa to be certified Carbon Neutral: a dream that began in 1902 when Charles Louis Back arrived in Paarl. The philosophy has always been to “...provide enjoyment in each and every glass.” Winemaker Alicia Rechner is doing just that with this soft and dark Merlot featuring a nice concentration of fruit. The palate has a pleasant grip to it, with the alcohol coming through but adding to the enjoyment.
