Alkoomi Shiraz-Viognier 2021 Review

Alkoomi is a third generation family winery that has been farming grapes in western Australia's Frankland River region for over 50 years. That experience comes through in this elegant wine, made as a co-ferment of 95 percent Shriaz and 5 percent Viognier — a nod to the style first popularized in the Côte-Rôtie region of France. The nose is all ripe brambly blackberry fruit with a waft of cracked peppercorn and licorice. This wine perfectly showcases the variety's innate herby, peppery notes alongside a concentrated fruit core.
