There’s no wrong season to drink a Margarita. This version, made with fresh basil and ample lemon, tastes like summer in a glass.
Andrea Correale, an NYC-based entertaining expert whose client list includes Liam Neeson and Mariah Carey, created this sunny cocktail. It uses fresh lemons and triple sec instead of lime juice or (shudder) sour mix.
Ingredients
1 ½ ounces tequila
1 ounce triple sec
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
½ ounce simple syrup
3 basil leaves, for garnish
½ sugar and ½ salt mixture, for rim
Lemon rind, for garnish
Directions
Rim a rocks glass with sugar and salt mixture.
Combine all liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
Don Julio Añejo Margarita:
Perhaps the easiest way to upgrade a Margarita is to make it with a spirit like Don Julio Añejo, which boasts softer notes than a blanco.
The Death Flip:
The Death Flip is reminiscent of a spiked eggnog with complex aromas of sugar cookie dough, malted milk, black licorice, and cinnamon.
Blackberry Margarita:
Blackberry season starts in early spring, and since Margaritas are too delicious to relegate to summer alone, why not spice things up a bit?
Don Julio Winter Margarita:
A Margarita is never out of season. With some creative changes to the ingredients, this cocktail will channel those cozy winter vibes.
Blood Orange Paloma Recipe:
This Blood Orange Paloma is a riff on the classic cocktail, substituting blood orange soda for the traditional grapefruit for a refreshing alternative.
PATRÓN® Perfect Margarita:
Refreshing and complex, the Perfect Margarita checks all the boxes for an afternoon happy hour with friends.
