The Story Behind The Last Word
The Negroni gets a lot of attention as everyone’s favorite equal-parts cocktail. If you prefer a gin drink that’s more herbal and refreshing, however, consider the Last Word. It’s made with gin, green Chartreuse, and fresh lime, plus Maraschino liqueur for a touch of sweetness.
This Prohibition-era cocktail is easy to make since, like the Negroni, all ingredients are added in equal proportion. This also makes it a great option to batch for larger groups.
- ¾ ounce gin
- ¾ ounce green Chartreuse
- ¾ ounce Maraschino liqueur
- ¾ ounce fresh lime juice
- Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
- Double-strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Serve up.
