The Story Behind The Safecracker

First stirred up by Matt Piacentini, owner of NYC cocktail bar The Up & Up, the Safecracker gets its name from Gian Maria Volonté’s character, El Indio, in the 1965 Western, “For a Few Dollars More.” In the film, Volonté — an Italian actor — portrays a Mexican outlaw who breaks into an “uncrackable” safe during a bank robbery in El Paso. As an homage, the Safecracker fuses Campari with tequila reposado and Ancho Reyes Verde for a bitter, spicy, and seductive combo.

Offering rich caramel, vegetal agave, chile pepper, and orange peel, the Safecracker is ideal for enjoying hearthside as you listen to your own fire crackle. But if you’re planning on hosting this holiday season, the simple proportions make batching as easy as 3-2-1.
