The Story Behind The Blood Orange Paloma

'Tis the season for blood orange soda. When I came across a batch at the grocery store, I knew I needed to bring it home and utilize it in a cocktail. If you've never had blood orange juice before, I find the flavors of this wonderful fruit are very similar to that of a grapefruit, and that means it will be perfect in a Paloma, the classic grapefruit soda and tequila cocktail from Mexico. This is such a simple cocktail that can be made in seconds yet has the delicious balance of a much more advanced and involved preparation. You'll make it all summer long.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces tequila
  • 3 ounces blood orange soda
  • Chili salt rim

Directions

  1. Rim your glass with the chili salt
  2. Fill your glass with ice
  3. Pour tequila over the ice
  4. Top with blood orange soda
  5. Stir gently to combine ingredients
  6. Enjoy!
