About Sam Sumpter

Since graduating with a journalism degree from the University of Texas in 2011, Sam has been Woodward-and-Bernsteining it with articles along the lines of “Best Beers” and “Best Brussels Sprouts” (seriously). In 2016, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of moving to NYC, where she added music writing to her resume, immersing herself in the local scene through her blog, Bands do BK, which was developed into a book and published by Lit Riot Press in September 2022. When she's not glued to her laptop, she can be found air-drumming at shows, sipping bubbles at wine bars and wandering with coffee (while gawking at dogs) through Prospect Park.
