How does a person become a winemaker?

Here on “Wine 101,” we talk a lot about wine journeys in an educational sense, but we’ve never specifically detailed the journey one takes to become a winemaker. After all, it’s seldom a career path that one pursues right out of college. Instead, it seems to be one of those jobs that people eventually fall into. Perhaps someone’s winemaking hobby blossoms into a full-time gig, or maybe a wine lover decides to ditch an unfulfilling job to pursue a life in the wine industry.

On this episode of “Wine 101,” Keith is joined by someone who has experienced this exact transition firsthand: Greg Brewer, founder and winemaker of California’s Brewer-Clifton, Diatom, and Ex Post Facto. Keith and Greg chat about how he pivoted from being a French language teacher in his early 20s to a respected winemaker. Tune in for more.
