Rose And Pomegranate Cocktail [RECIPE]

The major winter holidays are over, yet we still have a few months of the season ahead. So it’s time we start to think about some winter-y cocktails to help us through the coldest months of the year.

Today I am sharing a vodka-based libation that contains my favorite winter fruit: pomegranate. Pomegranates are generally tart on the palate, though when mixed properly into a cocktail, they have a balanced flavor we all love to discover. Although at first sight pomegranates can seem intimidating, they’re in fact very approachable for mixing into your experimental cocktail concoction. The best process of juicing the pomegranate is to squeeze it like a lemon, though you could also get the seeds out by cracking open the fruit, then placing it in a small amount of water and gently releasing the seeds from the shell. Or you could take the easy route and purchase the pomegranate juice from the grocery store.

But the pomegranate alone doesn’t do this cocktail justice, so I’ve dressed it up with a few dashes of rose water; taken together, these 2 ingredients mixed into the cocktail generate a floral bouquet on your palate that is incredibly memorable.

  • 1.5 ounces of vodka
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 1 ounce of pomegranate juice
  • 1 teaspoon of agave nectar
  • 1 dash of rose water
  • ½ to 1 cup of ice

To a shaker add vodka, lemon juice, pomegranate juice, agave nectar, rose water, and ice. Shake mixture. Strain into a coupe.

Garnish: rose petals

Yields: 1 serving
