Wente Vineyards Riva Ranch Chardonnay 2021 Review
The Wente family is a very important part of California wine history. They are responsible for isolating the Wente clone, which is to this day one of the most planted clones in the state. To say they are experts in Chardonnay is an understatement. If you are gonna go toasty this is the way to go. The nose is deep and oak-driven with a nice dose of minerality. The mouthfeel is soft and creamy with great natural acidity lifting the wine on the palate. There is a lengthy finish that is not cloying but comfy and inviting. Not really a food wine but definitely a wine to wind down and enjoy a cheese plate with.
