Waits-Mast Family Cellars Wentzel Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019 Review
Winemaker Shalini Sekhar has a Master’s Degree in Flute & Piccolo Performance. She also has an enology degree from Fresno. It feels like these two disciplines have brought out the best in the wines she has been making for Brian Mast and Jennifer Waits since 2013. This wine is a stunning example of a cool climate Pinot that is big and deep but crazy balanced. You can sense the depth on the nose with soulful cherry notes and a kiss of oak. The mouthfeel is just the right amount of chewy fruit, tannins, and wonderful, balanced acidity. This is a wine that will make you think.
