W. L. Weller 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon Whiskey Review

Gone are the days when Buffalo Trace's Weller line presented an easy-to-find, affordable alternative to Pappy. Regardless, both lines are deserving of recognition for popularizing "wheated" bourbons, and this particular release is justifiably coveted. Retailer price hikes aside (this whiskey has an MSRP of around $40), Weller 12 is a luxuriously creamy and flavorful bourbon, with rich notes of almond, vanilla, and toasted oak. At 90 proof, it comes in a shade lighter than many modern releases — a fact that should be celebrated, especially when the concentration of flavor is as intense as it is here.
