Villa Cerna Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 Review

Villa Cerna is the first thing you see when crossing the first hill into the Classico area. It was once a monastery that has been converted, or, better yet, rehabilitated into a modern winery still taking inspiration from the monks of long ago. This wine, like the property, is a call back to the past. It is soft and earthy with that bright acidity from the Sangiovese. The tannins are a bit dusty but are definitely going in the right direction. It could probably lie down for another year but is drinking well as is now.
