Umathum Rosa Rosé 2021 Review
Elisabeth and Johann Umathum established thier farm in 1958. What initially began as a sugar beet and grain farm would, within a year, be a testing ground for a vineyard. It worked so well that by the late '80s the farm was dedicated solely to viticulture focusing mainly on native varieties. Along the way the family farmed with organic and biodynamic practices so when it came time for certification in 2007 they were ready. This rosé is a stunning example of their practices. The wine is savory with pops of raspberry, tart pomegranate, and flecks of white pepper. The palate is alive and bright while still featuring the earthy tones. This wine is a case-buy to enjoy alone or with food. Something like a cheese plate or a roast chicken will absolutely add to the enjoyment.
