Review
There is a lot of awesome going on here. Although the grape has a rich history here, in modern times, this is the rare Chilean Malbec coming from the north half of the Rapel Valley in central Chile. It’s not the most well-known area but after tasting this wine it’ll be hard not seek out more from here. And it’s crazy affordable. Also, the winemaker has chosen to put the word Côt on the label, the French word for Malbec (maybe a homage to its history as Malbec arrived here before it made its way to Mendoza) and I can see why. This is not an Argentine Malbec. At all. It’s earthy and jammy with some savory notes on the nose. The mouthfeel is all soft fruit and brilliant acidity, balancing the prominent yet calm tannins. This is such a great wine from Chile. Keep an eye out for more from here.
