Tomac Marany 2020 Review

The Tomac family has been making wine in the region Plešivica in central Croatia for over a century. The winery exclusively sources from family-owned vineyards in a uniquely positioned on south-facing amphitheaters on the region's rolling hills. The Tomacs have always farmed sustainably, but began judiciously applying biodynamics to their agriculture in 2018. This type of farming comes through in this earthy skin-contact blend. It has a distinct cognac-like characteristic, with some caramel and cumin in the background. The palate is dry and balanced with mild fruit and great acidity. That dryness does take away from some fruit depth, but it doesn’t matter because this wine is so damn balanced.
