Tensley Turner Vineyard Syrah 2022 Review

Joey Tensley loves Rhône varieties, but has a particular affinity for Syrah. He sources grapes from unique microclimates across California's Santa Barbara region to craft a range of terroir-driven Syrah expressions. This single-vineyard example from the Turner Vineyard shows Tensley really knows how to dial into a sense of place. The nose has ripe brambly berry aromas along with cooking herbs and some grilled meat char. The palate is wonderful with soft fruit and a slight tannic edge. The acidity lifts up the savory character, making it bright and deep at the same time.
