Sullivan Rutherford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Review
The legacy of Jim Sullivan thrives at his eponymous estate. This is a unique place in Napa. When the state was cutting up land with county lines, the border of the old parcels Rancho Carne Humana and Rancho Caymus ran right through the property. Today, Sullivan still resides on the dividing line.
This wine is not ready. Ok it sort of is. If you drink it now, it’s one of those bottles that needs some breathing room, like an hour. The nose is tight but expressive and will only get better with time. The tannins on the palate are still working their way into the wine and are definitely present. The balance is undeniable and where this wine is going is exciting.
