Single Cask Nation Dailuaine 2010 (Skurnik Selection)
Review
Talk about geeky. This 12-year-old Speyside single malt was selected by one of America's premier independent bottlers, Single Cask Nation, and then bottled exclusively for its distributor, Skurnik. You're probably not familiar with the distiller, Dailuaine, which is more commonly utilized in Diageo blends. And that’s a shame because as a single malt, it soars. Aged 8 years in ex-bourbon casks before being finished for 4 more in a PX sherry butt, there’s delicate orchard fruit note on the nose, though the palate is richer, with sticky toffee pudding, dark fruits, and honey-dipped apples. At 57.7 percent ABV, the mouthfeel is rich and almost waxy, with a long, lingering finish.
