Poggio Anima ‘Raphael’ Rosato 2022 Review

A winemaker from Montalcino and a US.. importer collab on a wine from Sicily. Riccardo Campinoti of Le Ragnaie and Vine Street Imports Ronnie Sanders have worked together to form Poggio Anima. It’s an awesome idea of making wines for the American market that are unique and expressive. This rosato (Italian for rosé) is a great example of their work. The Zibibbo grape (widely known as Muscat of Alexandria outside of Sicily) really shines here, blessing the senses with aromas of honeysuckle, rose petals, and a waft of lemon zest (maybe even some basil?) On the palate. The Syrah kicks in for texture while bringing some added peach and melon aromas. It’s so balanced and focused for such a unique blend.
