Old Elk Straight Rye Whiskey Review
Old Elk's master distiller Greg Matze is very well-acquainted with rye, having spent 14 of his 40 years in the business as master distiller at MGP. True to form, this release fits the quintessential rye profile. Underripe cherries, vanilla, and a touch of oak greet the senses, then transition into a pleasant, spicy finish. We'd be tempted to score this higher but the price feels ever so slightly steep. Nonetheless, the texture is on point, and this bottle is definitely worth seeking out.
